Research and Discussion in the Ireland
Maki Ueda, Noriyuki Fujimura, with Karin Dubsky from CoastWatch Europe
Karin Dubsky, the founder of CoastWatch Europe has been interested in
realizing the project together. She is especially interested in involving
school kids to our workshop and to collect the visual materials from the
beach, according to agreed guidaelines. Exhibition in the city and the
workshop on the beach seems to be efficient.
Coastwatch Europe, the international volantary organization of
watching state of the coast over Europe, has detected drifted oil ball
after the oil spill in the Wales. From this experience she has
interested the collaborative project together with Wales.
She was especially interested in the photo images we took on the beach
in Ireland(left): the different viewpoint which is made by the
difference of cultural diversity and shown by photograph was very fresh
for her.
She suggests to focus not only on sandy beach, but also marsh/mud,
rocks etc. From sublitral to hinterland.
Aim in the workshop we see in common:
-bring resources as beauty of the ocean/coast to the wide audience
-application of media technology
-highlight the differences/similarities of characteristic in the
perception of the coast
We had a meeting at Marine Institute, Dublin, on September 3, 1998.
We have a possibility to have them as a partner/financial supporter. They
are a governmental organization, and have technological resources as
research boat.
