Summary

With Mori-grant, I wrote an E-CELL v3 dynamic module (plug-in) using C++ object oriented programming. This module allows E-CELL to run fully stochastic simulation of coupled chemical reactions. With a kind and productive cooperation from Kouichi Takahashi, this module can now be used simultaneously with deterministic methods inside E-CELL v3 to construct hybrid model.

Then, a stochastic/deterministic hybrid bacteria Escherichia coli (E.coli) heat shock model was built and numerically analyzed. This model suggested that heat shock is an active response process, which is dynamically and deficiently controlled. We also analyzed the robust and sensitivity of E.coli heat shock response and explored the limitation of this conserved defense system.
