Mutations increase genetic diversity that is essential for the evolution of a species but many of them are detrimental. If mutagenesis occurs non-randomly, it confers better survival chances on organisms. We analyzed mutability in protein coding genome of E. coli and found that selection pressure on mutability is not random. To do this, grant was used to upgrade computer parts for improving computational powers and to buy an evolutionary biology book for background search.
