VSI: Virtual Systems Institute
* This laboratory has been completed.
The VSI project is an interdisciplinary project to implement a new society and new business by making use of new digital technologies. Fields of research being conducted range from development of comfortable living environments or new communication methods using a retinal camera to realization of regional communities that utilize new network technologies and are sensitive to senior citizens. Research is also being done on seeking a desirable form of management organizations that will greatly change due to the development of digital technologies; on information communities, where a new style of working arises after the advancement of communication technologies.

Application of research results
Research results obtained from this project are applied to condominiums that have Internet access, use of a retinal camera or a tactile mouse for e-commerce; implementation of new in-house executive education and the founding of corporate ventures from it, operation of an autonomous human resource development program and self-assessment on a network that supports it and a program such as job-search matching. All are used to solve problems in actual society.
Future Directions
In the future, we plan to develop a mechanism that uses web-based education or other technologies for working at home or for opportunities for social interaction by handicapped persons in order to fuse socially “gentle” technology and business.
