Objective
The Asian Laboratory will pursue these five major objectives and activities.
- We will conduct a competitive study on policy issues in the three regions of: East Asia (North and South), South Asia, and the Middle East to Africa, with emphasis on practical wisdom (phronesis) in the area of policy making. (Typical issues: global warming; public health such as advanced contagious diseases; food safety; establishing businesses in developing regions; governance for regional consolidation; and low-intensity conflicts)
- We will build and sustain a Policy Research Platform for the development and collection of “knowledge” practiced when addressing policy issues, and “information” on human resources, etc., by networking research and work organizations scattered throughout the three regions.
- We will maintain a Policy Resource Databank by evaluating, updating, and publicizing developed knowledge and information (ranging from text data to image data).
Along with the foregoing objectives,
- We will hold a series of special seminars geared to amplify the network of research and work organizations.
- We will implement an OJT program, involving management and planning of the Asian laboratory, for doctoral program students. The OJT will also draw on the resources of the network of research and work organizations to enable researchers and practitioners of the next two generations in the three regions to participate.
