Objective
The Shonan Fujisawa campus marks its 20th anniversary of establishment in 2010. We are developing an organization and policies to stimulate progress, globalization, education, and research in education / research stay programs, especially the Create the Future School. Globalization is a crucial element of SFC, and we aim to become a central international presence among institutions for Japan research and Japanese language education by forming alliances with universities and high schools around the world. This strategy goes hand in hand with the multilingual doctrine that SFC has advocated since founding. SFC explores society development and related policies – these take meaning only when placed in the context of the culture and language of each country.
Based on this awareness, our laboratory will focus on supporting students in Japan to gain the skills to understand other countries in their respective local languages. We will also work to develop an environment for international students and researchers to understand Japanese society and Japan-advocated policies in the Japanese language. These initiatives will be in collaboration with the International Strategy Committee.
Overview of Research Activity Plan
- Execute an international research and education stay program at the Create the Future School.
- Research and compile a database of information about foreign national SFC applicants / alumni.
- Research and compile a database of information about SFC alumni who live abroad (in collaboration with the Minerva no Mori Committee.
- Conduct Keio University SFC publicity and promotion activities to target foreign national SFC applicants and their guardians (in collaboration with Global Public Relations Committee.
- Host symposiums and international conferences on the topics of Japan research, East Asia research, and Japanese language education.
